What an inspiring and strong quote from tennis champion Serena Williams.
Having a chronic illness presents new challenges to us. Things that we perhaps never knew or imagined can come on suddenly or over a number of years. Symptoms are chronic and debilitating, stripping away everything that you once knew. It’s important to remember that over time, things get easier. We adapt and learn to live with our new diagnosis, as do those closest to us. Most importantly, with time, and usually some outlet of therapy, we heal as much as we can from the traumas we have experienced.
I believe it is important to stop and look back at how far you have come and what you have survived. It is only then that you can realise how strong you are. You have lived through all of your worst days so far, even if it was by the skin of your teeth.
You have endured.
You are strong.
You are a chronic illness warrior.
